about

These are speculative sonic landscapes where imagined and real worlds meet, a world where biology and technology manifest a hybrid nature for which its effects and affects are not yet known. Wave forms of human voices are pushed through software pedalboards and amps in order to achieve varying degrees of abstraction, where human language becomes mechanical, while familiar, natural sounds break through.

I’m concerned by the climate crisis and what kind of world will exist in the near future and what that world will sound like. This work is about bearing witness and it’s a process of mourning while also trying to cling to a little bit of hope. Not hope for humans to fix it (I think we’ve done enough and so wrong-headedly for so long) but hope that humans will (to borrow a word from Richard Powers’ book “The Overstory”) unsuicide themselves.
